There's a bit of a debate going on regarding Sakura's confession to Naruto in the upcoming chapter, so I wanted to open this thread to get everyone's opinion. Is Sakura truly sincere about her feelings for Naruto? Or does she still carry a torch for Sasuke? Please include not only your vote, but also any reasons you have contributing for or against the sincerity of Sakura's confession. |

I think Sakura is sincere but she can have a lot of different feelings at the same time. I think she loves Naruto as a team member and also doesn't want him to see him hurt for a request she made while she was still immature. |

She loves him as a teammate and brother, nothing else. End of story. |

she's selling herself out in order to get Naruto to move on. it's a good intiative, but the wrong way of doing it. |

Her confession was honestly... terrible... Well, in terms of her trying to be sincere and honest. It was way too easy for Naruto to see through her. I don't know if she still "loves" Sasuke, but I do feel confident in saying she doesn't love Naruto as anything more than a teammate and friend (maybe a "brother"). |

^ Dunno, I'm possibly rooting for Naruto to be right and say that she is really lying to herself. Although, arguably, I don't blame her, cos he's probably going to get Sasuke back regardless and hurt himself in the process, and Sakura doesn't want to see that. |

I believe she likes Naruto and not in a brotherly way. But as far as Sasuke's concerned, I dunno. I think the confession didn't come out right. It was awkward, and a bit too cheesy.
But I know what it didn't do -- make me angry. That's what made very little sense. |

how did that not make you angry.
If kishi was next to me, i would have smacked some sense into him.
wasting like 15 minutes of my time for no sensible reason. |

You have a point there, I guess, in that I wanted to see the fight over the bijuu, instead. |

exactly. I mean i don't really care if sakura wants to pour her heart out to naruto, but the way she did was so cheesy, corny or whatever you want to call.
not that it matters, but it did annoy me because I wanted to see just how strong kisame is and what i got was a bunch of children bitching about love and acting like they are about to get married or something. |

I think Kishi didn't spend enough time doing his research on his week off. I mean I'm assuming he was researching how girls confess their feelings |

I have to agree with the group who say that it was not a very convincing confession. If anything, it proves Sakura wants Naruto to give up on Sasuke. (And maybe go do more useful things. Like basketweaving.)
When she professed her feelings to Sasuke, it was obvious that she was sincere and adamnant in what she told him. The chapter even reinforces it by having Naruto have flashbacks with Sakura's sincere feelings for Sasuke and how much she cares for him and whatnot.
If anything, in my opinion, the 'confession' that came out of Sakura was simply a way of her to remove the burden of 'Saving Sasuke', because she realizes that it's the only way she can in a sense, save Naruto from the suffering and hardship that Sasuke's actions have put him through. She has, after all, said that if there was any way that she can help Naruto, she would take that opportunity. Given that there could have been a better way of going about it, if that was her intention, but... yeah. She was doing that to basically put an end to Naruto's ridiculous quest to return Sasuke by sparing him the obligation that his promise tied him to.
As for the confession itself... well... it was crap. I don't blame the angryness it has caused, since if she truly cared for Naruto, she wouldn't really have gone about it like that. (And I think she wouldn't have, since the girl is known to be open about her intentions.)
Come on, she didn't even look at him when she said it. She like... looked off to the side as she said it. She basically put it this way: He's the 2nd Place prize, since she wasn't able to win Sasuke. (LAAAAAAAME....) If that was what Kishimoto intended, then I say that he did a good job. (BTW, my face was just like Kiba's when she hugged Naruto. Really Sakura...) |

I think you guys are looking at it in the wrong way. She acknowledges Sasuke was her first crush; she liked him. There's no wiggling around that. She can't deny it. However, she got by hurt him, by not only abandoning the team they were on, but turning into a criminal and just being a jerk.
While Sasuke's being this mammoth jerk, Naruto is emerging as this steady rock she can lean on. Someone willing to not only stick around, but risk his neck for the collective sake of everybody in the village. And this is key; risking his life for her. This is where her feelings for Sasuke cool and she starts to feel something for Naruto. By the end of Part 1, and the beginning of Part 2, I think this is where those emotions materialized. And as Naruto is becoming this huge hero, those emotions grow stronger and stronger. The confession is kind of the culmination of those feelings.
Now, the way I see it, the confession is the death knell of the feelings for Sasuke and the celebration of the feelings for Naruto. Which means Naruto isn't Sakura's 2nd choice, or the consolation prize. He's just the 2nd guy she's had feelings for in the story. Maybe the last (though the way Naruto's acting after the confession, I have no idea). |
